Information update on international labour migration in South Africa

April 2022

As part of the National Migration and Urbanisation Forum we contributed to national dialogue by publishing a statement from a group of concerned migration scholars on the recent xenophobic attacks and political activism that targets foreign-born immigrants living in South Africa. Through the HSRC we released the media statement covering the evidence of how many international migrants reside in the country, which is much fewer than numbers being reported in social and conventional media; and describing the constructive role they play in the local economy.
